It's a Long and Winding Road
Earlier this month, I took part in the Vitally You Retreat in Maui where we traveled the Road to Hana as one of our excursions led by Kale and Meagan of Makoa Quest. If you have never been, the Hana Highway is a 64.4-mile-long stretch of road which connects Kahului to the town of Hana in east Maui. The road boast roughly 600 curves and 54 bridges. It is not a road to be traveled by those in a hurry.
The road to Hana is stressful, it is dangerous, it requires attention, and it is AMAZING. The road to Hana is meant to be enjoyed at a pace that allows you to stop off along the way, watch for hidden gems like waterfalls, create adventures and delight in the beauty and the danger. It is NOT about Hana. That is only the destination.
50 Fun Things is much like driving the road to Hana. It is about helping you find the joy in everyday moments and creating adventures along the way. It is about practicing presence, gratitude, resiliency and meaningful connection.
We are about to launch into one of the most stressful and hectic times of the year. Your gift to yourself this holiday season is to slow down, find the small moments of joy, create new simple adventures along the way and find the beauty in what might often seem like a dangerous, or stressful time.
We all need help on this long and winding road during the holidays. Please take time to share on our 50 Fun Things Facebook page the ways you are slowing down to enjoy the road or new fun things you're doing to bring more JOY to your holidays. After all, the destination will be there regardless. You might as well enjoy the journey.
Our retreat leader, Kim Julen of Finding Your Fiji did an exceptional job organizing a meaningful and memorable experience for participants. I had the pleasure of facilitating 50 Fun Things workshop and closure activity for the retreat. Click here to check out the next retreats offered through Finding Your Fiji.
